We had a blast taking some time off in Ojai, California for the weekend. Our main focus was to relax and we were determined to explore the town and to rock climb. We settled in at the Ojai Rancho Inn that is a succulent haven for the hippiest folks around. The decor is amazing and the two-person tub was key to our exhausting day of exploration. The art above our bed and the special tile hand-made by Karen Bernscott in the on-site bar, Chief's Peak, is dreamy.
Our first day included using the hotels Linus bikes to explore the town. We took our dog, Herbert Hamilton, around on the bike too. We came across FiG store and wanted to buy all of the flower pots. Eventually, we rode to Karen Bernscott's house to buy pottery goods and scope out her property. We fell in love and can't wait to come back, take a pottery class, and sleep in the teepee. We drank rose and had the most delicious snacks and relaxed in the hammock at Tipple and Ramble. To end the day, we checked out Bart's Bookstore and laughed at some vintage books on how to rock climb in the 90s. We couldn't get enough of the vegan cuisine at The Farmer and the Cook.
On the next day, we sought Alex Bury to teach us how to lead climb. I was a bit apprehensive about lead climbing and left that up to Justin. I did, however, end the day feeling more confident climbing outdoors and climbed the most epic route. This route was so amazing that when I got to the top, it began raining cats and dogs. Needless to say, I felt like Lara Croft from Tomb Raider.
On our way home, we stopped by the adorable Summer Camp shop and scored some treasures. It turns out the owner helped us frame our ketubah back in Culver City and we had no clue he owned the Summer Camp store. We ended the day by visiting the flower meadows to take a family portrait. Our next adventure will be exploring Amsterdam, Germany, Italy, and France in a span of two weeks!
